“Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2 NIV) — The world has a way of occupying our minds with the troubles of this world. When gas prices were extremely high, I recalled focusing on the price and how much money it took to fill my SUV, (earthly things); When I desired a new position or placement on my job, I focused on the interview and all the doors that were closing, (earthly things); When our school system instituted nine furlough days, I focused on the amount of money that I would miss, (earthly things).
God says to set our mind on things above. God is no respecter of persons, what He does for one He will do for you.
I remember driving and having these thoughts running ramped in my mind. Then a gentle whisper, “Turn it lose, let it go, I’m your source, I’ll provide, trust me and focus on me.” At that moment I no long allowed the negative thoughts to drag me down every time I passed by a gas station.I began to set my mind on things above, by thanking God that I was able to put gas in my car. I thanked Him for lowering the gas prices. I thanked him for all the extra days off work. You see, there is a blessing in turning your thoughts away from earthly things, and setting your mind above.
- Today gas prices have lowered
- Today I have a new position
- Today five furlough days have been restored and there is conversation about the last four being restored next school term
WON’T GOD DO IT! Thank you God for Heavy Favor on my life and those reading this Blog! Amen
