The seventh time around, as the priests sounded the long blast on their horns, Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the town!” (Joshua 6:16)

Do you recall the story of when Joshua and the people where marching around the walls of Jericho? They had to shout before the walls came down. That seems kind of odd. It seems like God would want them to shout and be happy after the victory, after the walls had fallen. But no, that doesn’t take any faith. It is easy to sing and give God praise when we’re on the mountaintop, when things are going our way. But God wants us to learn to give Him praise when we’re in the valley. He invites us to shout before the results are obvious. We thank and praise Him that His solution is coming. We don’t dwell on walking into challenging times; we praise Him that we’re coming through them. We thank Him that victory is on its way. Remember that praise always precedes the victory! When praises go up blessings come down!
