But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve him. Think of all the wonderful things he has done for you (1 Samuel 12:24).
Saul had just been chosen to be the first king of Israel. It wasn’t something he had dreamed of doing, and he didn’t feel up to the task. He even tried to hide from the responsibility (1Samuel 10:20-24). Everything depended on what Saul did once he accepted the crown. Would he continue to believe that he was facing an impossible job, or would he decide he could handle things after all? Unfortunately, Saul did not heed Samuel’s wisdom or recognize his own limitations.
But Saul still serves as an example for us. His life presents us with a question: Are you willing to change you thinking? Will you take the limits off what God can do in your life? Will you start believing Him for bigger and better things?
You can’t go around thinking thoughts of defeat and failure and expect God to fill you with joy, power, and victory. You can’t go around thinking thoughts of poverty and lack and expect God to fill you with abundance. Change starts right in this moment. If you will change your thinking, God can change your life.
